I would like to thank Bill Austin for doing a WHOLE LOT of footwork while he was in the area, in finding the owner of a D8 2U and ripper that I just bought. This has probably been a year long venture. I would like to thank him now before the reality of what I did sets in:eek:
The pony motor was running and the main turning over within the last 4 months. The "mechanic" could not get it fired, if he did I am sure I would not have been able to get it.
I have pics but this computer is bout had it and when I enlarge them the quality is very poor for some reason.

Would anyone have the weight of D8 2U 22500 Ag Cat with CCU on rear, and a little tougher question a Le Tourneau ripper for the 8? I have no # at this time for the ripper.

I'm showing bare machine weighing in at 36,310 lbs.

I think those pull type rippers run around 8000 lbs. I used to see a lot more around before the price of scrap went up.

Here's some pictures that Bill sent me some time ago. Undercarriage looks good along with the rest of the tractor. Looks to have segmented sprockets to if I'm reading the picture right.

36,000 lbs is good on the tractor.
8,000 lbs seems good on the ripper, not quite as heavy as the LeTourneau K-3 root rake at 9,000 lbs+
Add 2,000 lbs for the #25

P.S. That ROPS looks a little light:D

The weight would depend on which LeT ripper you have..LeT make two rippers for the D8. The Model “K30” was the extra heavy duty rooter as there were called, and weighing in at approximately 12,300 lbs. and came with 3 teeth. The Model “H” Heavy Duty Rooter weighing in at approximately 8,440 lbs. and they came with 3 or 5 teeth.
Then later the Model “H” became the Model “H3” which weight in at approximately 7,500 lbs and came with 3 teeth. As, well the “K30” weight was increased to 13,100 lbs, so we have a variety in weight.

Addendum:
In viewing OM posted photos I can say its not a “K30”. It would have to be a model “H” or a later Model “H3”. about the only way on could tell without the Sn would be by weight. Hope you find the Sn.

Bruder9, 8C 361, Old Magnet, Kelly, thanks for all the information. Let's see, less the 30 lbs worth of "FACTORY ROPS" (wich will be removed on site) guess I would be safe in telling the trucker 43,970 lbs Hope to get up there next week, depending on the weather.
I would like to take it to Woodland, but it would be about another 100 miles the wrong direction plus the return, so not likely.
OM, thanks for posting the pics. I must have turned the wrong bolt on the computer last night, has been down until this morning.
Paso Chris, I do believe it will run in short order if the info I got from the previous owner and what Bill had learned is correct.
7Upuller, no need to be jealous, the little D8 will fit in the can of the 660 you just bought:D Gives me an idea, can we put the D8 in the can and take it to Woodland? The Smokies will never dream there is a D8 in the can:D

That is not a LeTourneau ripper but a Wooldridge built in Sunnyvale. The tag is under the pile of cable.
