Hall scott supplied engines for the Holt T35 tractor from the models beginning. The engine model was MS-35. It was a 4 cylinder. Lorry Dunning in his book "Ultimate American Farm Tractor Data Book" described the T-35 engine as a Hallscott, MS-35 vertical, valve in head, overhead cam, bore 4" x strke of 5.5", giving it 276.5 cubic inches and developing about 25hp at a governed engine speed of 1000 rpm. Dunning goes on to say that the engine was designed by E.J.Hall and that Hall Scott built hundreds of them and spares to go with them. The deal for these engines was signed by Hall and Pliny Holt on March 31 1921. 935 recieved the HS MS-35 engine. After this the Holt factory moved and the M-35 Waukesha made engine was used. At holts request no engine badging or name plating was aloud accept theirs.
