Has anybody seen a TRACKSON L2/LW2 hydraulic loader based on a D2,
or a ULRICH DOMOR hydraulic loader based on a D2, do any of these
still exist?

Years ago we had a D4 come in the shop & was fitted with an Athey overhead loader attachment on it. It was made so you loaded the bucket from the normal front position & then it went up over the top of the tractor & it dumped from the back so you didn,t have to turn around the tractor. It had a big heavy canopy over the machine & the operator but it was such a heavy rig that I don,t think they were too popular.

That and all the fines and dust that had to have been sifting down everytime a bucketful went overhead and came back:D

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Hello Shovelman,

Away back in 1965-66 i had the opportunity to operate a "Ulrich" Domor loader on a CAT 7U D4. This particular loader unit was brand new, and had been in the local "CAT" dealers stock for several years and never sold.

The contractor whom I operated the 7U dozer for was offered the Ulrich to try and perhaps buy at a give away price. The dozer gear was removed and the loader was fitted to the tractor, and I operated it for about 10 days.

It was firstly extremely cumbersome, the tractor lost all of it's good balance, was hard to see what you were doing etc etc, all in all a very poor attachment for the D4, and so it was finally removed and taken back by the Dealer., and the dozer gear went back onto the tractor.

What ever happened to it I don't know, but I imagine that it was probably scrapped. Unfortunately I never took any photo's of the unusual beast.

Sincere regards
