Hi guys,
i need to adjust the RHS track of my D4
i assume by looking at it that the large thread and nut is adusted tup the tension, however, when i look at the spring, it already look fairly compressed which doesnt make sense.
either something could be seized or is ther lock nuts or something i must undo first ?
thanks.

I may not be following what you are saying but I think you want to adjust the nut that is right behind the idler arm not the one that tensions the spring. I don't remember locks, I think it is a split nut and quite hard to move even with wedges to help spread it. I will look at mine and reply unless the more knowledable guys chime in beforehand with the answers.

Old Cats has it right. .the nut you want to adjust is the one at the rear of the idler yoke, not the one at the front of the spring. To tighten the track, loosen the pinch bolts first and then start working on the adjusting nut. Depending on how rusted up everything is, you might even have to use some heat and lots of loose juice to get things moving. And don't forget a loong cheater pipe that will fit the wrench. .you're gonna need it

Wow, after reading all of this, I just can't wait to start adjusting mine. Luckily only my right side needs tightening.

Hi, jnick9900.
You need to turn the nut immediately behind the pinch bolts. That nut has a round section which extends through the pinch bolts. The pinch bolts clamp down on this round section which has slits in it to allow the pinch bolts to clamp it down on the thread.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

This is from the D4 Tractor manual. It makes the job much easier if you wear a white lab coat.
