HELP!!
I carefully removed the fuel filters on the D2 I hauled home a couple of weeks ago only to find lots of rust and water. At least 10 years ago, it seems the injection system was drained down but not refilled with anything.
I carefully cleaned everything except for the passage down to the injector rail gallery. How can I backflush that line/passage? What are the other tubes and passageways from the top of the fuel filter tower for or where do they lead? Any help in cleaning the rust out now before the engine is turned over to prevent the injection pumps from being damaged would be appreciated!

Here's a couple of cross sections to help you out. The injector fuel manifold is a blind passage and best access would be by removing one or all the injector pumps which you should do anyway in your search for rust. The illustrations are from the D6 but the configuration is the same as the D2. You might also consider pulling the injection pump housing and replacing the "O" ring seal between the housing and filter tower as well as cleaning out the passages.
