What's the difference between the 183, 184, and 193 hydraulic control units? They all fit D9s, correct? Are there any others that were used for blades on D9Ds, Es, Gs, or Hs?

The 183 is used on D8H tractors. The 184 is for D9E bulldozer, ripper and / or tilt cylinder. A #50 was used on the D9E for the ripper and or tilt cyl. A #143 was used on the D9E for the tilt cyl. The 193 is a front mount unit used on early D9G's with four arrangements, 1 bulldozer, 2 bulldozer and tilt cyl., 3 bulldozer and ripper. 4 bulldozer, ripper and tilt cyl. The 193B is used on later D9G tractors.

Did you mean 143 was for a D4, Rome?
From my own understanding, 183 would be for a D8 and 3 valves, 184 with 4 valves then a 193 would be D9 with 3 valves.
Example from my books buried away of course; say for a D4: 141, single valve, 142 dual valve, 143 triple valve...
Someone is welcome to correct me, I seem to think that is how the model pattern numbering is? Just guessing. JM

That was an option for the D9, it was used just for a tilt cylinder. It may be used on the D4D, not sure.

Maybe they changed their nomenclature at some point? The 184 is listed in the D9 blade group for a D9 and was later renamed or replaced the 193 from what I can find.

Thank you for the info. Where do you find all this info?

Which groups are crank driven and which are driven off the rear engine gear train?

Was the #50 used on D9Ds as well?

The #50 was used on early 18/19A's. Pump was rear engine drive. Tank is two valve for ripper and/or tilt blade and was meant to be used with cable blade. Also supplied hydraulics for the clutch and brake boosting.

My D9G is a 91F serial number on the hydraulics. It's a 193 unit

Sits at the front of the machine

The 193 operation book has "formally 184 Hydraulic control" printed on it.
