Just measured them... 1.958". So if I'm interpreting the 2.00" spec correctly the bushings are over 100% worn. 😢. FWIW the results rails measure 3.69".

I'm not sure why I didn't notice before but the tracks are about banjo string tight.

Other side didn't look all that tight.
3.69" is 24% worn, (3.75" new, 3.50" = 100% worn)

I have fitted a new sealed set of pins and bushes to lubricated links that had a large amount of life in them and got good results as a compromise $ wise.

Sure makes for a pickle of a situation. By measurement and eyeball the majority of the undercarriage is around 75%. But by some stroke of misfortune the bushings are beyond worn out. So it looks okay but effectively it needs $5k worth of new chains to be right.

If everything was 75% I still think the asking price is too high, especially considering that it's not turbocharged and that there's really zero call for ag crawlers in this area. Potato farmers were the only ones that used them and there aren't any potato farms left, hence why this one is for sale.

Thinking aloud, it puts my in the position of wanting the crawler but only at about 60% of what they're asking. So it seems like a case of expressing interest and just being patient. I can offer a detailed analysis of my reasoning on the price but I'm not sure that'll really fly...

Think I'll give a call to the folks that did the undercarriage on my John Deere to quiz them about the situation.

wombat i was going to ask that question. it certainly would be a shame to scrap those links when 70 percent life remains. and isnt there supposed to be a slight sag in the chain between front roller and the top idler?

They started at $18,000. Price has been dropped a bit. After a couple conversations with a member here it felt that $10k was more realistic, but that was before the undercarriage issue surfaced. I'm sure it would be worth more in California, but $6 diesel and the current state of logistics would kill any profit trucking it that far.

Machine comes as is, but the seller offered to pull off the row markers if desired.

I count 36, which I believe is correct for the tractor.

In regards to the track looking banjo string tight in the last picture I posted, it just dawned on me while counting links that the tractor was backed into place, so the top is pulled tight.
