I recently purchased a 1954 D2 non runner. Its got a few issues before I can get it to running. Removed main clutch today, it was stuck but not as bad as other posts on here. Ordering parts this week from general gear.
Starter pinion was stuck in engaged position, got that freed up but looks like I should take that apart and clean.
In the 80s i worked on tracked vehicles in the army but have forgotten most of everything. Im sure will have some questions while getting her up to snuff.

yours is a tool bar machine you can drop the blade and run other attachments like cultivators and rippers ploughs etc. find yourself a copy of the OMI, parts manual and serviceman reference. these can be found on ebay and at swap meets.

Hi Jim, I have 5U13753 so mine's very similar to yours, apart from the toolbar arrangement. I've had mine completely apart (and I mean completely - every single nut and bolt from front to back) so if you have any questions, my memory is not too foggy yet : )
I also bought new clutch parts from GG - clutch plate, bronze throwout collar, bearings, pins for the fingers, and had the plates resurfaced. It's very smooth and solid now. How many hours does yours show?

Cheers,
Neil

The hour meter is filled with oil as of now so no idea of the hours.
Ive got the parts manual, operators and maintenance manual and have read and reread a lot of posts on this forum to get me going. Also watched youtuber called squatch videos to help me out.
Honestly I never would have bought such an old dozer without this foruum. Kudos to all the experts on here.

If you watch the series of videos from Squatch about his rebuilding of his D2, you will be familiar with every bolt, nut and accompanying fixtures. Great info. Also welcome to the club.
