Purchased D4d, it is a 20j model and has what I believe to be a No 4 toolbar blade.  Is this a good blade?  Never seen another one in person so guessing not very common round here.  Does not look to be in bad shape. Does not appear to be easily removed for farming. What can you tell me from the pictures. Thanks, Mike

Yes, that is a number 4 blade set up. Easy to just remove the vertical pins, pop the hydraulic cylinders/hoses and set forward and block up push arms;back out and go farming.
Swapping from blade to toolbar one needs a good forklift or shop hoist to make life easier. No need to remove the track frame mounting plates/trunnions.
For what its worth, I was taught to have the trunnion caps backwards of how it is set up currently for pushing with the blade. It probably does not matter unless a clearance issue with grousers/tracks binding up with the braces.
Very handy to have around the farm.
Enjoy your new workhorse. Thanks for sharing the photos. JM

Dan, is it true Alaskans have 100 different words for pushing snow?

And can any of them be repeated on a family-friendly forum?

Hi Mike, we have a D4C with same set up. Follow JM's instructions, go farming. Remember to block up the arms when you back out of it. Is very easy to do. Farmed with it for many many years.

It is very easy to remove the blade like JM said. Once you have done it a few times it will take about 5 min. to remove the blade. I have one on my 5UD2 and remove it often when farming.
