I was doing some research on tires when we got the motorhome it turns out that UV ray is not very good on tires especially the newer ones. They have tire covers for motorhomes and they have a tire protectant that you spray on. Tthey have all different kinds. I like the armor all tire foam because you just spray it on leave it on and yeah it does make it shiny I’m not it for the pretty I'm there for the protection .I thought I would try it on my motor graders since they are prone to cracking and UV in Alaska is 24/7 in the summer and tires are very expensive and mine are new.

Hey there AKA Fat Dan,
I tried some stuff called Sun Block that is painted on and comes in quart cans. I works well if the tire wont be moved but it wears off quickly when the grader is used. I gave up on it as I was using the grader so much that I couldn't keep up with it. Tires have to be clean or it peels off. Unfortunately tire prices are going through the roof.
The Kansas sun can be pretty brutal during the summer but with several tractors and the grader I gave up trying to preserve the tires on them. The tires that the sun destroyed were some older knobby tires on my 40 scraper and they rotted right before my eyes. In fact I have to pick up some used ones next month.

jim your thinking of tyre black. its good on all sorts of rubber trim as a protectant it is a matt finish. and does make older tires look better and keeps new ones looking good for a while longer.
