late model D2 water pump

About 12 years ago my brother bought a very late model D2. Serial number  5U 18314.  He removed the water pump for rebuild , took it apart, bought a lot of new parts and then his health got in the way. I am trying to get it running so my brother can sell it.  ACTUAL QUESTION is if the late model water pump is different from the early D2s? My manual only covers the J model and my mechanic is not figuring out some issues with the U model. If anyone could post a diagram and parts list for the U model pump, I would appreciate it. If the U and J model are the same, then we need to figure out where we are going wrong.   Thanks ahead of time.   Grant.

Here is one for a D311. I don’t know if early or later matters. JM

Note that there should be a relief valve and a grease fitting on the housing, not two grease fittings. Also be careful with the ceramic seal on the impeller, no hammering on impeller or impact wrench on the nut, it could crack it.

I am hoping to sit down with the mechanic tomorrow and see if the drawing that Juiceman sent and the one that I have match and what seems to be missing. FatDan, I only found Squatch information on a 3J water pump. Rome, no hammering is a good rule. I will look for the grease fitting and relief valve. I will just have to see how this works out.
Thanks, Grant.

My late parts book shows just about every part is the same except the main shaft.

Thank You Rome. The shaft was one of the new parts that my brother purchased when he took it apart. I just purchased the seal that goes on the impellor end of the shaft but the mechanic thinks there is something else missing. I will get together with him in a couple of days and figure this out. Thanks for the help. Grant.

Grant, the relief fitting should be the lower of the two, and more rearwards. It just looks like a regular grease fitting that has had the end broken off it. Many of us have swapped it out for a regular grease fitting, ignorant of what it actually was. My 5U has a new relief fitting on it..... : )

Cheers,
Neil

The relief fitting will be on the check list and thanks again for the photo. The mechanic tells me that he is swamped with work so it may be next week before we get on it. Grant.
