D315 verses D4 7U radiator cores

I am curious if the radiator core from a D315 power unit would work on the radiator tanks of a D4 7U?  The part numbers are different but I am wondering if they are just different because of the application and not a physical difference given that they both have D315 engines.

My D4 is going to need a new core at some point (the fins are falling off the tubes in the core) and ran across one for a D315 power unit.

To start with are you needing a full width core or part width with the oil cooler along side. I suspect the D315 power unit is different.

Mine is a partial width cooling water core with the separate oil cooler. The parts book that I looked at in the library for the D315 power unit showed both the oil cooler and the partial width core for the cooling water for all serial numbers. The same diagram listed two different part numbers for the cooling water core with no explanation as to the difference between the numbers. I can see where they could have one number for a full width core and one for a partial width core but it is not clear on the diagram or the parts list if that is the case.

Thanks!

Check/compare the tube sheet gaskets. That may be a helpful indicator.

That's what I suspected.

Thanks for the help!
