Help identifying Generator

I hav a 12v regulator and bat and 12v generator tag no. 1?02752I noticed the FLD and the AMR on the picture regulator on GenB are recurved on my 12v regulator. now I’m looking at the crusty old connection on the generator itself. QUESTION I don’t see which post on the generator is the field and which is the Ammeter. and if they were backwards what would that do ?

The 1102725 Delco generator started out as a "Type A, clockwise, 30 amp. 8V unit that has been converted to 12v. What terminal is what would depend on whether it was wired "Type A" or "Type B" as viewed from the commutator end. If it's wired backwards you won't get any output.

Thanks Old Magnet
Cleaned the scale off all the connections polarized the generator as per OM's info and it has a good 30+ amp.at full throttle.

If it makes a full 30a output the coils plus armature have probably been changed to 12v. If you just change the coils you lose about 20% capacity due to there being fewer commutator bars on 6V armatures (due to larger wire used).

in the first pic, it shows someone has been inside and converted it to 12V. A hand stamped 12V on the casing and hand stamped tag. I did NOT pull the inspection clamp to view the brushes since it had produced minimal voltage at full throttle it had to be wired correctly. So according to Old Magnet's info provided of Field wiring and and how to Polz. Gen info I had to keep track of wire placement (Regulator 12v wired differently) I knew it was wired correctly but not putting out much amperage (10A max @full throttle) It was not able to keep up with the increased lighting, fans and heater. Before I Polz. Gen, I cleaned the Gen. posts and looked for markings (none). Finding the Field wire loose and the Armature post was excessively corroded, I checked wires for continuity and shorts. Once started the Ammeter popped up on step instantly. Worked so well I didn't do any more to let the battery charge and went back to work on oil change. When I'm up to it I'll grab the Fluke meter and check the amperage output.
