furrows not turning over clean and consistent, does operator need to:

1) increase speed 2) reduce plow depth 3) Both 4) Other?

A set of skimmers would bury the trash. Maybe he is also not using the best mouldboard shape for the conditions. Either way the result is not great.

No rolling coulters and moldboard is not correct shape and size for depth being plowed. Trying to turn too much dirt with too small of a moldboard.

by skimmers, do you mean Harrows? yes they would help bury the trash, but does not correct the problem

Skimmers fit up with or without coulters to take off corner of turf so that it all goes under. I was taught that max depth of ploughing was 2/3rds of furrow cut, it would be interesting to know what the furrow cut is?

i too was taught correctly....turf goes all under....180 degrees....depth is what it is....4,5 6,7 inches etc...
-coulters help immensely as well...
- i heard ploughing was a dying art...i suppose it's true

He is plowing 2x as deep as those moldboards will handle.
