The spring and gear on my starter are pretty much shot but the ID plate on my starter is wore really bad. I know its a delco remmy. Searching on google the only style it resembles is an Alice Chambers. Was wondering if anyone had any insight or knowledge on this. I am looking for a rebuild/repair kit or at the minimum the gear and return spring

Thank you so much. You're knowledge is invaluable. I was able to buy the starter shaft parts i needed right now but found some other parts I'd like to replace while its apart. This will help tremendously in getting the right kit/parts. Thank you again

Be aware of aftermarket parts. Armatures don't have the the shaft pressed to the correct depth. Commutator end plates do not fit properly, brushes can be wrong fit. Only the old NOS filko push button switches fit and work correctly. Field coils are ok. Terminals are ok. Bushings are ok. Be sure to set up end thrust correctly. Look for a commutator end plate that has the bushing upgrade. Early versions ran on the pot metal.

Thank-you so much for the info. I bought an aftermarket part and had no idea about that. I would've been bent hahaha.

Possible Bendix upgrade SDR5022 - think I may have used this on a D6 - will cushion the shock better when using 12 volts

Better to use the early type bendix although most are now imports. Sometimes possible to find a USA built unit but it's the same one used on early flat head fords so most have already been scooped up.
