I have not seen any D2s set up like that but I have seen a couple of D4s and photos of other makes and models raised up like that and set up as rose harvesters. The idea seems to be that they would straddle the rows of young rose bushes and a round-bottomed cutter bar would cut the young roses off about a foot below ground leaving them ready to be picked out and packed for shipping.

. Looks like it would tip over if you ran over your hat!  Brave operator.

Couple farms near me have some old D3s setup like this, they are for row crops like berries or vineyards I think.

Just make sure you take it slow in the corners!

 

Somewhere hiding in the multitudes of photos I have a photo of D4 much like these.
Used here in the Sacramento Valley for "digging" walnut trees from the nursery areas.
They pull a "U" shaped slip to cut and raise the young trees for transplanting.

Thats about as high as you'd want to go with a "high drive"!

The D3 looks taller than a bare root tree digger would need to be. But the others are what has been used a long time for digging all forms of bare root trees and vines. High valve crop so you put it on prime land, deep soil with no rocks and level with good irrigation water.
