Rebuilding a BeV Carb for a Fifteen and looking at the Old Cork Float it may have been Treated with some Kind of Varnish or Seal. Any one any thoughts ? It is not in real Pristine condition, so Where does one perhaps get new Material for these Floats ? The Big Twenty Kits have a Grey Type material cut in Squares , but there is Nothing in the BeV kits  .Maybe I can Find some very Thick cork ,or may be Bond a couple Layers of thinner Cork together and Shape up .Ideas and Help sure appreciated .  LJ

check out NITROPHYL® Float Material , Restoration supply sells it in blocks and you have to cut out your own, great stuff, cuts easy with common hand tools or in the mill.

Hi Lance,
the old cork floats were sealed with lacquer which is thinned with Metho and so if you re-seal your float with lacquer it will be eaten off by today's Alcohol laced fuels.
Steve A has the answer for you to make a new float out of modern alcohol resistant materials.
Chapter 19's Thirty was re-sealed with lacquer by me when I restored it for the Boss in the early days of alcohol fuels iof E10 fuel--strict instructions were left when I retired to ONLY use Premium fuel but who knows what got used after I left--obviously cheap fuel as the cork float used to sink and flood the carb until a modern float material float was made for it.

My Holt T35 (2Ton) got a HQ Holden fuel tank sender unit Nitrophyl foam float reshaped and fitted to a purpose built brass wire circle float carrier into the Kingston carb. float chamber.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
