Hi Mike,
it would appear there is some oil seepage out the cylinder head to cylinder block gasket joint on the main engine--you may consider doing a re-torque on the cylinder head fasteners--at the Dealer it was recommended to re-torque after fitting a new head gasket at around 50 and maybe 150 service hours of run time.
We always re-did them in the shop or field after the first start then again as described.
Reset the valve lash after re-torquing the head fasteners too.

We used to back of the fasteners one half of one flat and re-torque to spec. one fastener at a time and then keep going back over the lot without backing off until we got no further movement.
This D300 series of engines always wept oil and sometimes bubbles and water after the head has been disturbed hence the need to re-torque.

the same lincoln welder units were sold a tractor pto driven units in australia. being dc weld output they are brilliant welders. of course they were only a single unit not double coupled like that is.

edb, I never had the head off. The diesel ran good enough when i got it. (less than 3000 hrs.)
Back "off" (right?) 1/2 of 1 flat. How do you see this??? Hot engine? Damn, it has a 10' hood!

Cool video and cooler welder! Hey, if I get one of these, will it make me a better welder? hahaha... Would trying to burn some carbon arc rods (air arc to some) put her under a real load? I think it is 275-300 amps recommended to do a good job of gouging material. That is a real nice unit sir. JM

Great restoration, love the sound of the ole cat motor. I go out to the ranch every onece in a while just to start up the D6 9u to hear her purr! Locw discing or plowing in the fall too!

Hi Mike,
we used to see such oil seepage, combustion bubbles under load and in extreme cases some water too from these engines and we would do the head re-torque and valve lash cold, run it and reset the valve lash hot finally.
