hyster D4 brake adjusment ?

does anyone know the proper procedure to adjust the brake on a hyster D4 winch?  mine won't hold

Which Hyster D4 winch: D4, D4D, D4N?

On the D4N winch the adjustment is all in the slack adjuster linked to the brake handle by the rod. (part # 20 in diagram below)

The D4D uses turnbuckles to adjust the length of the pull on the brake.
