Having saved this tractor from the torch, I would like to know how the steering clutch booster works. Does the tractor have to be moving under power? There is gear in the unit. Will the clutches release standing still?
Thanks, Herb

Hello Herb
Like all these older machines anything behind the flywheel needs to have the clutch engaged for it to work including winches, pto units, CCU's and of course steering clutch boosters.
Otherwise it should disengage the steering clutch whether moving or stationary.

Regards

Phil

Hi Team,
as said above the master clutch needs to be engaged for the Booster to work.
Without the engine running you can still manually disengage the steer clutches but, with out the boost feature, so it takes a moderate amount of effort to disengage said clutches.
Scans below may help.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

I would hope the clutches would would work, albeit stiffer. Good, the tractor will not run at present.

Sorry Herb I thought you were having issues with the booster but I assume you want to be able to disengage the clutches for towing?

Hi Phil, hadn't thought of that, but would be handy. Usually tie the handles back. My first concern I think to find out if the tracks are free.

Thanks
