I am just Finishing My Latest Resto. an   R2 S/N 961 . and Wondering what is the Correct Colour for the Grill. I recently found a 5U D2 Tool bar Bouchure and It has the D2 with a full Black Grill , I have always painted Mine with just the Vertical Angle Irons Black. Any suggestions what the "J' series should be . Maybe someone might have an old Bouchure to Refer to ?
Thanks in anticapation.  LJ

Hello mate, Mostly grills I have seen are yellow with black bars. Will be a good looking tractor whatever you do!

Hello Lance,
Whilst I cannot help with the colour question, you may be interested to know that there are, to my knowledge at least 25 R2s in preservation in the UK, mainly 4J (narrow gauge) including numbers 951, 958, 969,970 and 971 (970 is my own tractor - in bits) I imagine the last three with consecutive numbers probably came over on the same boat!.
In addition, there are several R2 tractors which were re-engined with D3400 engines from generator sets with serial numbers starting with 1S (if memory serves me correct).
