Need a gas 65 camshaft. That is for a 9000-G engine, part number 1A7944.

If you can't help, perhaps you can tell me what other site (including address) I might advertise on besides ACME.

Thanks. GWH

Is this Crank used in any other engine?

Is yours broke? Bent? or just a bad journal or 2, in some cases they can be repaired, might be easier than finding a replacement

George at the dealer we used to get lots of cranks built up at a small Co. in New York & he even came & picked them up.We never had one ever give us a problem after they were built up. He also welded up cracked heads & cyl. blocks too & none ever failed after he repaired them.Cat in later years had an exchange program too for current rebuilt parts & I suppose they still have it.Everything from the private source in NY that we used came back like new parts, even cyl.blocks.George if your crank isn,t twisted (bent) then if you can,t find another one you could consider having yours built up.

Steve A. and SJ: The crank is OK, but the teeth on one end are broken. The fellow I sent it to finally, and recently, admitted that although he offered to weld it up and cut new teeth, it is a bit more complicated than he anticipated, since there was something about how the teeth had to be cut on an angle, and he was unsure of his skill.

If you can give me the name of the co. in New York (location?) that has the competence to do this, I will contact them.

I very, very much appreciate advice on this critical part of the restoration.

Hello GWH, I assume you are referring to the gear on the front of the crankshaft? It should be removeable. Remove the gear and have a new one cut. I have a Best 60 that has a bad gear on the crank, I warmed up the gear a little and it came right off with a puller. I just need to round up another gear, or have one made. The gear for a 60 crank may work for a 65, not sure though. Gears can also be repaired, depending on how damaged they are. Good Luck, Caterpillarman

I found out that I had erroneously stated "crankshaft" when I meant "camshaft". Therefore, the confusion about the teeth on it that drive the oil pump. Several teeth are broken off. Sorry for the confusion created by me.

Steve and SJ: Names, cities, maybe even phone numbers would be very helpful.

Caterpillarman, Jim Zimmerman has the gear for the Best 60 that you are looking for.

Geo. I contacted the dealer this morning that I worked for & the manager told me that he thinks the Co. in NY is not in business any more as they don,t come around anymore. There used to be a Co. in Punxutawey Pa.( where they have groundhog day each year) that come around too that did rebuilding of parts but don,t know the name of the Co. so maybe someone on here in central Pa. knows of the Co. & can post a reply. We were established with the NY CO. so we very seldom used the Pa. Co.
