Looking for suggestions for Replacement Gudgeon [Wrist]  Pin for My Big TWENTY. [L971] ,anybody got Ideas? 1.5" Diameter , It was suggested to Me that 3208 Pins may fit , Anything too long We can soon Shorten.. What a battle to remove Engine, Removing Crank was a real Battle , Too remove Shaft One has to remove centre and Rear main Bearing Studs, And someone had done a Rebuild Years ago and Locktited them in, a grey Colour and near impossible to Undo even with Heat Took us Hours . Fortunately We have obtained Sleeves the exact Length and at a reasonable price , Shaft has been Ground and now getting Rods and Bearings Rebabbited. Any ideas appreciated  LJ.

Hi Lance,
my 2Z 3208 Truck Engine manual specs say that the new piston pin size is :- 1.4999 +/- 0.0002"----sorry no length given but the 3208 is a 4.5" bore so likely the pins are some 1.5" shorter than that.
Hopefully someone can get closer in length.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

loctite threadloc isnt grey it is green, blue, red, purple or brown and will release when heated to the correct temp. but you have to heat the right part as heating a stud can make it tighter due to thermal expansion.

it might have been devcon or loctite metal filled epoxy adhesive which is grey no wonder it wouldn't undo.and the compleatly wrong product.

i dont know if the gudgeon pins are case hardened. you could simply get some high grade bright shaft and turn some up on a lathe and then get those hardened or nitrided. using pins from another engine be careful if having to cut them as the heat from cutting could destroy the hardening and hardened steel has to be abrasive cut or thermally cut.

Make one. I made a set for my Twenty Eight 23years ago. I used StreesProof steel turned it in my lathe then ground it to fit the worn pistons .
You could use 4140 TGP (Turned Ground and Polished) If you have a good fit in the piston. Rod bushings you make new then size with a Sunnen Rod Hone for exact fit.
