grader tires was created by bursitis

i got some 10x24 tires for the steering axle on my motor grader. is there some reason to mount them backwards as far as the tread is concerened?

Ask Roger! : ) I understand there's some theory behind it but I'd guess for the average punter, it wouldn't make much difference. Someone that had done a bunch of grader hours would probably care if it were their machine. In any case, it would just be a matter of swapping the wheels side to side to change the tread direction if you wanted to.

You’re going to get varied opinions now.
Mine are opposite of the drives, because I was told they wouldn’t wear as fast roading them. Personally I just soon turn them so all 6 face same direction. Roger and Jan love arm wrestling over this topic.
I say mount them any way you please.

Drive wheels one way, driven wheels the other, theory is, they clean better for better traction, as shown in the first scan, Operators instructions for the 8T, and also mentioned in the 2nd, Operators instructions for the earlier 9K and 7T,

unknown but the reason its done with wheeled tractors etc is so they wear less. same reason many tractors that do haul-out work only have light truck tires on the front instead of the centre ribbed type also light trucks are cheaper and the tire went from the truck or ute to the tractor.
now remember tractor tires are directional and the lug bars only grip well in the vee facing forward direction.
