D4-7U question was created by OldIron87
Hi all,

A friend of mine wants to help me move a 1946 D4-7U with a seized engine off of a remote ridge with only one logging road in. Our question is can the dozer be steered without the engine running?  Will use a trailer if not. Thanks!

The 7U is straight mechanical - clutch, transmission, steering clutches and brakes.

With the transmission in neutral or main clutch disengaged, the tractor could/ should roll. Using the steering brakes pedals you may have some level of steering.

You won't be able to put transmission in neutral unless the main clutch is released (forward).

we shifted our d4 by snigging it behind a drott the brakes and clutches still work just remember to have it in nuetral. and keep the main clutch engaged so the clutch plates can't buckle. that is the correct way to park them any way
