I have been trying to obtain actual "build dates" for my Caterpillar equipment from Caterpillar for nearly 40 years, without any success. Most times my requests have simply been ignored by the Corporate Archives Department. That information may not exist or the Company may simply be unwilling to share it with anyone.

There are several links available through this website and Serial Number books that will give you an approximate year the units were built - the dates may or may not be accurate.
