D8 2u serial number query was created by Relic

Good evening gents, can some one tell me if a D8 2U would be considered an RD 8? I have found a tractor which I have been told was originally a WW 2 Seabee tractor but the only numbers of the serial number I can read is 2U165..., from what I have seen on here that would put the year of manufacture in the early 1950s? Or is this wrong?

2U165 built 1946 , last RD8 was in 1937 between 1H1497 - 1H2725
