I neglected to say that i have taken the carb. all apart again soaked it in cleaning carb. solution, blew it out with air,put it back together and adjusted, with the same results,a low idle and nothing more

I have a carb here it was easy to put to governor linkage tongue on the wrong side of the carb butterfly shaft, stopping it opening up, if that makes sense

Thank you Mike for your answer, this would make sense if I had any of the butterfly linkage apart but I did not take it apart.

If you had the carb off and apart you can get that linkage Mike is talking about backwards.

My question though is: Does the engine not run well when off idle or will it do nothing other than idle. If the latter grab the linkage and open it. If it wont speed up then that means there is a restriction in the intake air stream after the carb(highly unlikely).

Hi Team,
also be aware that the later carbs with the 90 # linkage at the main jet needle reverses the apparent action of said needle when adjusting the mixture screw---screw the main jet adjuster screw IN to make the mixture Richer and OUT to make the mixture Leaner.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
