I haven't been able to find any info on installing the crank pulley on a d3400. I have the ability to make an adapter and push it on but can't find a press on spec.
I can't imagine you just tighten the nut but I just don't know, any help appreciated
What is the best way to remove the screw rivets from the radiator badges? I have to remove the old ones from mine and want to salvage some off another tractor
.Thanks for any help

I have replaced my radiator badges in the past. I use a small drill bit and just drill them out. I purchased new badges, painted them and tapped in new drive screws.

I went back and read through the engine book again and finally found where it said to use the bolt and torque to 175=200 lbs ft and tap the bolt with a soft hammer and retorque to 175=200lbs ft. It was kinda hidden in the disassembly section, but its there..

Wow, that's tight. I think I just "tightened" mine.... looks like I'll be going back in there (groan)

I would definitely recommend you go back and tighten yours up. I have a 5j sitting in front of my shop right now with the crank pulley flopping around, don't know if the crank or the pulley is damaged but its probably not good.
I got mine to 185 lbs ft and its pretty tight.
Could be one of those good enough kinda things but I would defer to the Cat spec or at least try to get close

I'm wondering - I know that it's the spec but given that it has the locking tab on it, it can't get loose and I tightened it pretty good. I wonder if it's because it also provides the hydraulic control drive. Ah well, I'll add it to the to-do list. Just finished up the pony pinion again : ), so that has to be reinstalled and then I'll go bring it home so I can tackle the undercarriage finally.

Good point Neil, all I know is those Cat engineers are pretty smart and I have a d2 with a flogged out crank pulley. I was able to get in the 150-160lbs ft range before the engine spun. The next 20lbs ft were hard to get.
