Gold is illusive and Cats are mariGOLD (simi-Latin for" lots of gold")😁... So she's not giving up her secrets easy; I love a good mystery. I have heard a lady never revivals her age 😁 anyway. So the best I can do at this time is pre 1955 (Old Magnet: no oil cooled clutch & no cover plate for direct start ,,,Thank you). With a casting date off the oil pan of 9/53 and a casting date of 3/54 off the air plenum would put the ball park around mid 1954. So nothing has changed.

Hi Dan, I have a original Caterpillar Parts Book for 8T1 - 8T1487 and another one for 8T1488 - 8T21815. When you determine which one you need let me know they are for sale cheap!

I think I was about 4" short. .... yes, make all the jokes ya want ..I did... 'Gee' I think I was looking in the wrong spot. I'll try again and see if my theory of being too short pans out. I'll need to get a longer screwdriver to reach way down in there by the sump...When the Ol' guy gets home in a few days I'll check back..
