I have a 1947 LIMA 34 with a Cummins HBI 4 cyl. that has a waterfilter/ coolant conditioner. The unit looks true to the period and no refills are available. Did Cat ever put CCA/filer units on thier diesel engines to prevent cyl pitting/cavatation?
Thanks, Herb

some current engines have them. no idea if the classic ones did.
but a quality coolant would have all the needed inhibitors any way.

I guess the question is ,all the operating conditions are the same. Some manufacturers use them and others not? Premium coolant anyway. But I just wonder about the cavitation issue.
Thanks, Herb

Allis Chalmers ran water filters going back earlier than 1970, not sure when they first appeared, the original filters had a bag, later filters were screw on.
