no dice getting a generator off a d8
will now be converting the old housing to a drive adapter by making a new longer shaft the bearings are very common being 6204-2RS and 6203-2RS(nearly every electric motor 2hp or less uses 6204 bearings), new bearings and a seal cost me under 30 bucks. add a taper lock mount pulley to the longer shaft and some mounts to hold a alternator and i'm in business. the advantage of taper-lock mounts is no need for keyways in constant load non reversing applications so a smaller shaft can be used as the shaft isn't weakened by the keyway also much quicker to fit or remove. when you tighten the grub-screws on a taper-lock its like shrink fitting the part to the shaft. changing gear or pulley sizes is easy too as the centre locking bush fits multiple pulleys you just match bushes by series number and it works the other way too the bush outer is the same its the bore size that changes.
