Springtime grooming D2 style

Ahhh, spring is in the air finally. Hmmm? What to do...
After getting my "serious" projects out of the way, I decided it was a nice day to groom field roads by the main shop. I will never understand why people must drive out on the muddy (and very slick) dirt roads here as soon as it rains. Just like salmon swimming upstream to spawn I say. Barricades don't seem to deter them. Anyhoos, I opted not to use my 12 8T road grader.
instead used my D25U1600 which the pony rarely requires more than 2 pulls of the rope. What a great day!

Only thing better would have been an umbrella and an icy drink in hand, but no complaints here. The rubber pads have just enough traction on the dirt roads. It was agonizing in choosing which tractor to use. The 5U1600 is the only one here without an electric starter for the pony. The gas tank and valves don’t leak either. It is very funny seeing the expressions of people that start it. Very reliable to start as it should.

Wow!!  With that land leveler you are making some nice 50 mph roads!!

What are the two differennt types of trees with one side being green and the other side not leafed out yet?

Hi, Juiceman.
Now yer got me all green with envy, you havin' all that fun and me stuck here with a 'scabby, old' D9T dozer with A/C cab and only 57,300 hours on it spreading semi loads of fill onna dam wall with no trees within 100 yards.

It just AIN'T fair.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

The ones sans leaves are walnuts. Hartley variety. The green ones (young block) are "Independence" variety almonds or "Amons" depending on where you hail from...
Angelo D., a notorious hoarder of yellow iron actually planted that orchard with his cousin Joe for our tenant.
2021 ought to be even more interesting. Luckily we have irrigation pumps here. Our water deliveries from the People's Republic has reduced our river water deliveries to only 5% of a "normal" year, which we pay a hefty asessment for, regardless of any drops of water or not! That of course, is 5% more that the 100% of nothing that growers will receive south of Tracy California. Tougher year on farmers than ever.
Deas: I like this little Marvin "Multi-Purpose" Plane a lot. You can adjust it and leave it set, or raise the bucket to add extra dirt or drop a load of debris in a select spot. Aside from being a PITA to move, these things were about the only thing a farmer used in the orchards back in D-2 days. Not a lot of skill required by me to use it!
