Anyone have a method to remove later style pulley with single nut fastening? Catyerpillar claims ,'just remove the nut and the pulley is removble without disassembiling the entire unit.

Apparently I need the smarter hands out there!

Thanks Herb

It should slide off. but they get rusted and and tight, take a torch and heat the hub a little bit and lightly tap it off. Clean surfaces when reinstalling and put some anti-seize on the surfaces.

Ya, Rome that's what I did finally without bending the pulley up.

Thanks, Herb

So that is good news but uaa on a 955 (AU), C&E (US), F (UK), Traxcavators the "A" frame over the engine makes things a little more challenging to pull the pony starter motor.. It really helps if you hold your head sideways when you start cussing at the Ol' 1957 Cats..

before you use heat on anything always try penetrating oil such as penertrene or diesel with a little oil added and time to soak. some times its just a bit of rust holding them on.
heat can actually make things worse if done wrong. i have learnt the lesson the hard way.
