Will a high hp engine fit in a later low hp 7? The low hp serial number is 6435, the high hp is a 9000 serial number, The plan is to pull engine and torque together, thx John.

Hi, dodge guy.
As far as I am aware, it is the same engine beefed up a bit. Some of the very last of the D7Es came out at 200 hp and those appeared to have the same engine as well. Pretty rare though, I only ever encountered one - which helped me get a 20-ton Kato excavator out of a bog by being anchor for me to pull myself out. BTW, I DID NOT bog it. I just got asked to get it out.
If I am wrong, somebody will be along soon to correct me.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

The 17a has kind of a oil slinger on the back of the crank I was told an early low horse E is the same, I do know a late 75E high horse has a piston ring crank seal I put one in a 17A and had to have an adaptor plate made for the seal to bolt to to make my 17A clutch housing work, as CAT wanted 4000.00 in 1988 The adaptor plate worked and is still running. 17afarmer.
