D-2 5J clutch brake adjustment

I'm working on my D-2 5J. I'm unable to get the clutch brake to engage. I have 1/4" of friction material left on the brake. I also replaced the bushing and built up the vertical shaft that operates the throw-out bearing. Do I adjust it by lengthening or shortening the threaded rod off the clutch lever?

Hi Team,
I do not think there is a clutch brake adjustment on these units.
The scan below of an early Service Magazine article describes such issues and rectification maybe this will help guide you to a solution with the clashing of gears.
Lack of linkage travel is what they are pointing to--as a last resort maybe pack the plate with the brake lining on out a bit and see if things improve.
Too far out and the transmission gear shift interlock may not work as designed and you will not be able to shift into or out of gears.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Thank you. I checked that area in the illustration and found no interference. After re-bushing the vertical shaft the clutch brake does apply a little. I may purchase thicker friction material.

Check the wear on your pins and holes - as Eddie says, any lost motion there can cost you functionality

Thank you Eddie and Neil for your suggestions. I did check for wear and tightened up what I could. What I did find is this, I didn't index the rear clutch plate with the sleeve. There are matching notches that needed to fit together. By not doing that it added another 1/4" to the travel and that is why the clutch brake didn't work. But, who ever as in there before me didn't index it either. The last "mechanic" actually cut a deeper notch in the castle nut in order to install the cotter pin and the oil seal inner diameter was to small and the seal was torn and wore into the sleeve.
