Hey everyone,
I’ve just purchased my first antique Cat machine and I’m happy to have found a community of likeminded people 👍🏼
I’m excited to get stuck into bringing my 955 Traxcavator back to life. I am however in need of a service/workshop manual for it. I managed to purchase a parts manual but it was less useful than I had hoped.
Has anyone had any luck sourcing a PDF manual for the old Cat 955 12A Traxcavator? I did try searching the forums (as well as the web) but had no luck unfortunately.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! 👍🏼

Hi Jimmyjames,
We are hoping to make available in the near future some "Legacy Manuals" in electronic format in the Members area of the website, which financial members will be able to access.
If you let me have the full serial number of your 955 traxcavator, I should be able to see if there are any documents relating to it which will be coming available.

The manual you want to look for is a supplement to the D4 service manual and parts book. This one can be hard to find.

Hey everyone,
Thanks so much for all the help. Sorry for the late reply, I’ve just returned home from working away on the mines.
I managed to buy a manual from Caterpillar and got stuck into the Traxcavator.
It looks like I’ve got a corroded oil line coming from the oil pump and a ruptured hydraulic line on one of the main rams. Both seem easy enough to sort out so I think I got lucky purchasing this one 👍🏼
Does anyone have any specs on what oil pressure these old D315 motors run at?
