Last year we got a 1936 RD4 4G132. It is fairly complete but need some work. Firste we cleaned out the fuel pump, it was complete full with rust particles. So went to the complete pump. After that we tried to see if the engine was loos. and it is.. only problem it had no compression. So looked at the valves and 2 didn't close completely.. so decided to tear it down!Than the fun started.....After taking the head of we saw the liners had some rust damage, and a mise did live in one of them for som time.. So liners pulled, and there is the rust! no room for water anymore so a good thing we opened it. The crane wasn't look bad, but you could see somone worked on it. Between the bearing caps were little thin pice of sheet metal. On the taps of the crank you could see some good wear. you feel high spot on the place were the oil groove in the bearing is. So on the hunt to new pistons liners and springs. Found out that pistons are not so simple to get but after some time we found someone with the right pistons for sale here in the Netherlands. It are non cat pistons but Hepolite. We also got a parts tractor with the machine, with number 4G6263, so decided to take that down to see if we could swap the crank out of it. after opening the engine you could saw all traces of some previous work on it. a gasket made of a map of te colonial lands from france.. ( don't know were the machine came from but france is posible!) There are some serieus welds on the engine block and when we got the belly pan away you could see the traces of a trow rod. on number 4. After taking the crank out it looks like they repaired the engine, ground the crank, put new bearings in it and beached the project..That crank is like new! looks like we have some luck with this crank to go in to the 4G132 engine.this is the status of the project right now, waiting for some liners to come in and than we can start te reassembly.
