Rotation is determined at the impulse coupling...
The D8-1H should have a LH (anti-clockwise magneto)

You are about 70 miles from me. We have Chapter 4 in our area. We do a lot of things at the Rock River Thresheree.

I have thought about going to a chapter outing in the past but never got around to doing so. I think I will get to one next year.

Thank you for that information. I was able to spend some time working on it today and was finally able to get the pony to fire when I would put gas into the cylinder holes. Now I am in the process of rehabbing the pony gas tank and with any luck I will get it running tomorrow!

What is the serial no for your 1H. Around serial no. 2500. Maggie rotation changed from anti clock wise to clock wise. I would have to refer to a book for exact serial no.

serial number is IH-7682 but it is left handed rotation on the pony. The pony motor isn't original to the tractor though. its a later model.
I actually got the pony running today but now I am afraid I have more structural problems. After running, the oil on the pony dipstick was grey, so pretty sure its getting water in the oil from someplace. And when I tried to throw the lever from start to run, it would kill the pony, even though it sounded like it was running very nicely, which makes me think I am losing compression. If I can figure out how to post a video I will add one but I don't understand the file extensions.

You'll have to post your video on an external site, like youtube, and then link to it here. According to the attachment page, only static images like jpg and gif etc. can be posted. You "could" rename your video file and post it, but then it would need to come in under 4MB. Might need to look at whether those constraints can be lifted or relaxed
Cheers,

Thanks. I completely forgot how to do that. I think I set up a you tube account the last time I wanted to attach a video but that was in 2017. I will have to figure out my login.
