CAT D7 7M4585SP Clutch

I need advice. My main clutch is slipping and I cannot push under load at all. It is a dry clutch. We have tried the adjustment, by loosening the collar and turning it many times. It seems to have a tight lever pull at first, after adjusting, but it slips back to maybe 5lbs of lever pull force immediately.

We are wondering if replacing the 6 bow shaped links and 3 cams would help hold the clutch tighter, or should we just remove the whole clutch and replace the friction discs?
We are wondering if replacing part numbers 7B2147 and 7B7126 will help it lock over center better? Please see attached spec.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi AJ,
as a first easy thing to check and do is to remove the clutch collar adjustment locking nut and bolt and check for seizing threads, stretched threads and galling at the lock nut faces.
Often over time the threads beyond the lock nut travel area become rusted and/or stretched and so gives one a false sense of the bolt/nut being locked but is in fact seized/jammed on the threads and so does not securely crush/clamp the outer collar to the inner collar causing the adjustment to slip back where it was.
Indeed the cams flat spot over time and so may need to be re-profiled or replaced as you see fit.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

You should be able to removed a cam and link and check if they not to worn and the pines and like edb maybe the tread on collars could have to much worn on
