Has anyone removed the pivot shaft from a D2 without undoing the tracks - just jacking the tractor up, loosening off the pivot shaft retaining bolts, and sliding it out? My tractor is in a shed that doesn't have much room on one side, so I'm thinking of maybe taking off the track frame on one side, and then sliding the pivot shaft out of the other track frame without "removing it" from the tractor. If this is a dumb idea. let me know : ) Actually it's not so much the removing that I'm concerned about, it's the reinstallation. If that's going to be impossible, then I won't attempt it.
Cheers,

I would say in theory it could be done, however I don't think it would be a short cut. I would be more inclined to drop the frame with the shaft still in it. The shaft bushings are a real tight fit and might be damaged trying to wiggle the shaft out. I just watched the Squatch video and he was able to slack the tracks off and rmove them without splitting them but it required a backhoe. Sometimes the shortcut is the long way around. Good luck and let us know how it goes
