D6 9U front pump adapter doohickey: How do I get this off?

Howdy folks,
I’m hoping someone can ‘splain me how to get this apart. I took the two screws out (please see pics) and gave it a little persuasion with a large screwdriver but it seems to want to stay in one piece. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Need more info. What exactly are you trying to remove? Looks like a chain coupler with grease cover. Most likely a set screw around back holding the other half of the coupling to a stub shaft. Bracket is obviously welded to the belly pan.

Thank you for asking. I am trying to remove the orange cover from the shaft coupler it rides on. It seems to be solid rubber, about 2 and 1/2 inches thick from front to back. Both the rubber cover and coupler are floppy loose. I don’t see any set screw on the back side. Here are some pictures of the rubber cover from behind.

Pretty sure that's a roller chain coupling under that cover. Cover needs to be removed to access the inner half coupling set screw.

Sorry I reread your first post and the screws are from the orange coupling halves correct? If so check that there aren't two more in it and you should be able to wedge the halves apart. A pair of fox wedges should work fine but they shouldn't be too hard to separate.

Regards

Phil

Well thank you Old Magnet and Phil C, you are both correct, as usual. I couldn’t see the second set of screws as they were right behind the pump mounting bracket. Once I lowered the belly pan, Duhh, there they were. I‘ve seen chain couplers before but none ever had the grease cover still on so I’ll use that as my excuse.

Next question: the front sprocket of the chain coupler is loose and flops around a bit. The back sprocket (nearer the engine pulley) is tight. Shouldn’t they both be tight?

The front sprocket would be supported by the pump shaft so it should have the same fit as the rear sprocket. If it flops around on the shaft something is worn out.
Not a bad installation but would have been better if the pump bracket could be bolted instead of welded to the belly pan.

Thank you Old Magnet for you quick reply. Maybe I am looking for a problem where there is none? I don’t think the sprocket moves around when the pump is mounted. The reason I am concerned about the loose sprocket is because I am taking the original pump off to mount a walnut shaker tank and pump. The pump will sit 16 to 20 inches farther out than the current set-up and I was thinking having a little slop in the chain/sprocket connection could lead to problems. We are going to mount a couple of pillowblock bearings for the new driveline we are making up to run in. Here are some pictures of the set up.
