Caterpillar 22 engine assembly question

More
3 years 11 months ago - 3 years 11 months ago #222589 by Peter C
I have a Cat 22 engine that is apart (I bought it as a basket case) and I am trying to determine the alignment of the crankshaft gear to the camshaft gear to the governor/magneto drive gear.

Does anyone have a picture or scan that shows the proper alignment of the marks? Or can anyone tell me how the marks should line up?

I do see a small splined fitting on the end of the governor shaft that might allow adjustments for timing of the mag so does the alignment of the magneto gear to the camshaft gear matter?

Thanks

Pete

The only marks to line up are on the cam and crank gears. Bill

Thanks Bill. That is good to hear because I already have the timing cover on.
