Here is a pic of a typical transfer pump, maybe it will clarify your question or are you referring to gaskets?

Many thanks for the help. Cover No 19 and Body 21 and Bracket 22 don't seem to have gaskets between them. What seals them? Regards Tom Price

Hi,
now we know what you are asking about to be sealed--at the Dealer we used Permatex Aviation Form a Gasket #3.
It is a formulation for sealing highly finished surfaces.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,

I believe the reason for no gaskets is to maintaine the very close end clearance on the pumping gears. Any extra clearance will seriously effect pumping performance. If the cover shows wear or score marks it can be relapped to dead flat but if there is wear in other places it may not help much.

Think the new tolerance is ..002 . I measured mine with plastigauge. Just went through my manuals and cant find it. But .002 is just .001 per side clearance. Don't know why these machines didn't at least have a pre screen.

Hi Team,
from a No12 Grader Service Manual with the D333 Engine in the Spec. sheet we are given :-
clearance between gears and cover --- 0.001"-0.0022", with a max. of 0.0035"--this is what we applied at the Dealer to all similar designed transfer pumps.
For light worked machines a bit more is likely OK.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
