One of my Cat mentors drives truck during the week and last weekend ran a water tanker to keep the fire trucks supplied and this weekend he is hauling dozers to wherever they are needed. Lake ,Sonoma and Mendocino counties. Of course he always keeps an eye out for old Cats when driving. Grant.

Hi, Folks.
No fires around where I am but did have several requests from people in the town to create firebreaks around our side of the town.

Started doing that, with a water truck with multiple sprays standing by in case of starting a fire, and - yer wouldn't want to know - some townspeople phoned up about the dust and had us stopped.

Yer kin only help those who will help themselves.

I hope all can stay safe and well during these fires.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Here in CA we need big fire breaks, controlled burns and in the forests thinning and fuel reduction. We basically need the enviro whacks to get out of the way. 2 choices, graze and thin it or burn it.

The environmentalists have been pushing for winter controlled burns for several years. Much of the reluctance comes from the NIMBYs that dont want to breath smoke. Delaying it will create much larger amounts of smoke, like what is happening now. I have asked several CalFire officers about the biggest obstacle to winter burning, and it almost always is their local Air Quality Control Board. Much of California land that has burned in the last 5 years is Federal Land, but you dont see the federal govt doing anything about making the forests safer. From Washington we get
"Rake The Forest" . Such sage advice from our elected leaders does nothing to make us safer. Grant.
