Just attempted to start my tractor for the first time. I removed the oil pan and oil pump and cleaned ninety years of gunk out. Also went threw the carb. Installed new rings and did a valve job. Pulled it just a few feet and it started right up. Just ran long enough to see that the oil pressure cold was 18 psi. When I took the Oil pump apart I lost where I wrote the number of turns on the relief. Crank bearings are tight. Does this seem to low? Didn’t run long. Carb leaks like crazy. Do I need to turn Oil pump up? Who sells carb kits for Ensign carbs.
Thanks Don

Hi Team,
from my grey Thirty Tractor Operators' Instruction Book
For early plain shim adjusted big end bearings for S/No's below S-9268 and PS 9070 = 10 PSI.
For later style shimmed bearings =25 PSI.
Not sure of differences in shims but I would expect that the later shims have Babbitted bearing metal facings facing the crank journal.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Thanks for the response. I think that I am going to turn it up a bit. Is there anyone selling Ensign overhaul kits ?

Plain shims are not babbitted on the surface that runs against the journal. The later shims have a babbitted surface that runs against the journal.
