Does anyone know off hand how long the equalizer bar is supposed to be on the D6C/D6D/D6E machines (part #7M0665)?
Mine keeps falling off the support mounted on the tracks on the left side and getting wedged under the half pipe part that rides on the rubber. I've replaced all the rubber cushions and the two rubber parts in the middle of the machine.
On my machine the bar just barely makes it to the center of each track support on both sides. It seems like to me it should stick past at least an inch or two.
I can't find a good picture or measurements anywhere on the internet for the equalizer bar or what the end of the bar looks like assembled. The view of the end of the bar is blocked in the parts book by the roller carrier.

I don't have any pictures so I drew a quick sketch to show what I'm talking about:

Check the bushings in your diagonal braces on the track frames.

as well as Bob's suggestion check Condition 1 in the scan below.

Check the parallelism of the track frames by measuring across the inside of each sides track roller shaft ends--compare readings from front to rear to check for toe in/out.
Gets more complicated to measure and check for one side in/out facing only.

You can also check wear by slowly driving forward a short distance and turning one way--stop, and measure and record any changes to above measurements in each direction of turn several times to get consistent readings as a guide to wear.

Track Frames should be parallel within 0.025" total--an ideal is each side within 0.0125" off the tractor center-line.

EDIT:- on a hard surface with little weight on the front of the track frames it maybe possible to jack the front of the track frames apart, measure and then pull them back together with a chain fall or such, measure and compare the results for total track frame side movement--toe in and toe out.

These are the easiest items to check off.

More difficult but also needs to be considered if the above check out OK is that a Bent backwards Dead Axle can cause toe out also as well as a small backwards bend to both axles--cumulative effect.

Hi Jfehrle, operate the 'dozer straight forward on level ground for a hundred feet or so, measure the distance across the tracks , then back up the same and measure the distance again.
