Looking at putting in a small workshop, 30X34-36. 12 foot sidewalls. Insulated so I can heat it in the winter. Going to cost more than I want to spend. I can't even get a bid on labor right now. Gotta have a place to start working on that old D4.

Certainly you mean 30-40? Im looking to do the same. I have a D4 7U and as of yesterday a 5T. I want to have overhangs on each side so I can keep my rickety 14' tinner, a pickup camper and firewood under cover. I don't have anything like 120,000 to build a modest shop. Havent got prices yet but we will see.

I'm building a carport off the side of my existing garage - 22 x 14 at 12 high - with trusses, LVLs on posts outboard, no sides, plus concrete floor for about 8k, but I'm building it myself so no external labor charges. Zip sheathing and metal roof. Concrete floor is about 3500 of that.

Cheers,
Neil

yep, labor can get you that for sure that's why I try and do most things my self not saying I would do it better as I not a professional but if I am 3 times as slow I still might be faster then if you had to go make the money at a job by the hour then turnaround and pay someone labor cost to do your job. just say 25 pre h so you have to work 4 h to make a 100 to get 1 h of labor from set professional.
plus I like to buy tools to do the job then I have the for the rest of my left or can resell them. I am younger and still have lost of building and time on my hands. sometimes there a min-cost to show up when I got my cold storage built I was going to go small like 30x36 but ended up with a 40x60x16 for like an extra 2000.00 my 40x60 was under 35,000 done. I still have no concrete as it 220 per yard up hear so I working on a plan to do my own you learn so many things along the way.
talk about cost try getting your truck fixed her is 145.00 shop rate with 10% shop fee on ever h so that's like 165.00 plus parts for light truck and car work. heavy duty is over 225.00

I'd love to do the labor myself. I have some disabilities that come with age and I just can't do it. So here we are.......gotta pay labor.

I am looking at commercial shop price. I guess its a lot more per square foot then. looking at 70X90 with 18X70 addition and I have gotten a couple of quotes and both around 900 000 to 1 000 000(Canadian dollars) that includes a over head host.
What do you guys south of the boarder pay per square foot for a commercial building.
