Hi I am new to the forum. I don't have a service manual. I am looking for info on changing the changing transmission fluid and filter on my D6D. All I was about to find is that it takes sae 30 oil.

What about the filter(s)? I can't seem to find anything on that.

call the local Caterpillar parts desk and have your serial number and arrangement number handy.

Should be a 1R0741 filter. If not then 1R0721

Hi John,
to give you definitive answers, both we and Caterpillar require a Serial Number to give you both correct information and Parts.
Cat continually made changes thru-out production of machines and so a machine one serial number before or after yours could have old or new type trans. filters, lines, engine, etc.
Cat and we do not use the year your machine may have been produced for the same reasons.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
