Good morning all,
I have not been on the board in sometime. My original username is maxxadams. I could not login or reset my password so here I am, I could use some help. I am going to sell my D2 and I do not want to put a crazy price on it. Below is my basic write up. My initial thoughts and research thinks $5,000 USD is a fair price. Thoughts? If this is inappropriate to ask, I apologize.
Thank you for your time,
Michael

Hey Michael, you can always come down in price a lot easier than you can go up!!
A key part of the condition of a Cat Tractor is the condition of the undercarriage. If the undercarriage is severely worn one can spend over the $5k just getting it replaced. I don't know if you can post pictures but they would be most helpful in determining the condition of the tracks ETC. One has to consider sprocket wear, rail condition and height and pin wear. Of course it depends on the buyer if they are only looking for something to run a few hours a year then the condition of the chassis is not that critical.
Good luck!!

I’m guessing there’s a dozer blade that goes with it since you rebuilt the cylinders....Which one? CAT or something else. Also which hydraulic system? Caterpillar made both #41 which were typically rear mounted and also #44 which were most often front mounted. I think both came in 1 or 2 spool versions so that’s important. How did the pto units work? You have the units but they’re not mounted?
X2 on the undercarriage affecting value. However with all the other things you have mentioned I think $5000 is a pretty fair price unless the tracks are falling off it. Rebuilding those engines isn’t getting any cheaper and may become nearly impossible with time.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

With all that is listed on a one Owner machine, 6000 plus hours on an Undercarriage is a lot.
But!
You need to take into account that a lot of those hours are probably "Ag" hours meaning that the Undercarriage still maybe in reasonable condition?

Thank you all, this is perfect. I new you would get me thinking with Questions. This cat had 2 primary jobs on the farm, all AG. Pull a 2 bottom trip rope plow and run a belt driven corn blower. Most of the hours are as a power supply to a piece of equipment. The undercarriage is good, tracks not falling off or looking sad. The dozer blade is a Caterpillar 2S, and the Hydraulic unit is a type 44 mounted on the front. The Cat has not been a dozer long, maybe 12 years it was added to do small grading work or clean up potholes on our road, minor brush clearing. All told not even 100 hours with a blade on the tractor. So PTO is mounted on the front that runs the Cat Type 44 pump. The rear is mounted with a belt drive, I have a rear PTO as well and that is a separate unit from the belt drive. All turn well.. I also forgot to mention I made a new wire harness using Ancor Tinned marine wire with shrink fit tinned connections. This machine did not live outside but has had its own shed. Here some photo's of the undercarriage to see if this helps. I believe that answers all questions, and thank you for all the help.
